Bachelor of Physiotherapy

Luis Resa is a physiotherapist with a focus on treating athletes from all walks of life.

Luis will be consulting out of Hammer Athletic a few days a week and brings his expertise in sports physiotherapy, with a background that includes working with the world-renowned Cirque du Soleil and with the A-League.

Luis graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2008, before beginning a role in private practice. With a focus on pursuing a career as a sports physiotherapist, Luis was quickly appointed the head physiotherapist for the North Queensland Razorbacks Football Club, which competed in the Queensland State League. His success with the NQ Razorbacks led to him becoming the team physiotherapist for the A-League North Queensland Fury Football Club in 2009 where he held the role for two seasons. This role involved providing physiotherapy care for more than 20 athletes at the highest level of football in Australia and New Zealand.

Following this position, Luis was chosen to work with critically acclaimed entertainment company Cirque du Soleil, as part of the performance medicine team for the show Varekai. As part of the show’s tour of South America, USA and Canada, Luis was tasked with the medical management and physiotherapy care for more than 50 artists including musicians, performers and former Olympic gymnasts.

In 2014 Luis returned to Australia and football as a member of the Brisbane Roar Football Club medical team. He was appointed head physiotherapist for the National Youth League with a focus on treating players in the club’s youth development program. Luis was lucky enough to be part of the team in 2014/15 that achieved its most successful season, finishing equal 1st in the competition.

Luis’s main interest is working with clients involved in fitness and sports at all levels. He enjoys working with motivated, disciplined and results focused athletes. With his background working with elite athletes both nationally and internationally, he has developed the skills to assist you to improve your performance, manage acute and chronic injuries and prevent injuries in the future.
